DROWNING IN THE LIGHT

I was drownin’ in
Covid,

drownin’ in can’ts,

drownin’ in
a baptism of suffering,

downs, outs, shants.

Robbed,
and robbed again by the robbery.

Went,

up to Jerusalem,
on that sunny day,

went spectin’ nothin’,
nothin’ they could say.

Then,

for the first time,
first time ever.

Then for the first time,
oh, my wondering eyes,

life’s not ended,
dead’s not dead,
forever ain’t forever,
meant what He said.

Up from the grave,
fish on a plate,
I’m baffled, l’m bewildered,
 man even ate.

Brain won’t accept it,
heart will explode,
givin’ up on before,

I’m drownin’ in the light.
